We discovered a Cuban restaurant in Buford, Georgia named Havana South. Growing up in Miami I naturally equate all things Cuban with Miami. So when we drove by the non descrip shopping center along Hwy 20 and I looked up at a sign for Havana South -Cuban Cuisine I shouted for my dear husband to pull in for a look see. It was a Monday afternoon and our mouths were just watering, I could hear the Latin music, well no such luck. Closed on Mondays, damn it, but I knew it would not be long before I would be sampling some of the Cuban cuisine.
Saturday was the day..we thought we would go ahead and give it try. As soon as we were seated, I was transported back to my past. Latin music was playing, a young handsome Cuban waiter with just enough of an accent came to greet us. I found out although he was generations younger than I we attended rival high schools. I heard spanish banter in the background and of course the smells of garlic and onions wafing through the air. I felt at home.
The food was better than what I expected, I mean this is Buford, Georgia. I closed my eyes just for a second and I imagined I was back on Calle Ocho.
So if you need a quick trip south, head on over to Havana South, you won't be disappointed.

That sounds awesome...I can't wait to try it! My hubs was born in Miami and LOVES Cuban food. Lunch today was fun - we need to do it more often! :)
